Last night I had the fortune to find a first-time player as a full-embroidered white cloak. I met them in the very first chapter, barely after retrieving the second symbol. Over the course of a single game we traversed through the sand and snow collecting every symbol I knew the location of, though I was unable to find the flower to show them (I get turned around in the dunes so easily). I led them into the tower room with the cloth phoenix before water filled the room and we rode around on it in peaceful circles for several long moments.
We sang our way up the mountain. They sang and sang and sang and soon I couldn’t help but sing in return. We sang all the way up the slope past the war machines and when I didn’t pay close enough attention and let them step into the light of the machine’s eye I wasn’t able to take the hit for them. They kept singing, though, even after the hit. We chirped and sang all the way to our deaths then sang all the way through ascending. We drew hearts in the snow and flew as high as we could before walking into the light.
I messaged them after, as I usually do when I encounter another player I’ve had a great experience with and they ask me how to become a white cloak. I tell them they have to collect all the symbols and get the Transcendence trophy. They tell me they got it! I managed to get a first-time player all the way up to white cloak status in one go! I’m still not sure how I feel about that but I do know that they were fantastic and we’re already planning on playing through again together.
