I was working from home today, and due to extenuating circumstances I was very stressed out. I clocked out for an appointment and before I clocked back in I decided to take a break to try and lift my spirits. I knew I couldn’t commit to a full game because I had to clock back on before long, but I want to spend some time in the game.
So I fooled around in the first level for a little while. And I found a white cloak that was idle. I love to push people around while they’re idle; it’s by far my favorite thing to do in Journey. I pushed the white cloak around for a little while and felt considerably better.
Unfortunately, the person came back before I could slip away unnoticed. Knowing I wouldn’t be able to play the whole game with anyone, I felt bad. But I didn’t want to ditch them immediately. I thought that would seem rude. So, I went around the level with them, collecting the symbols and having a good time. I really liked this person. If I’d had more time we would have had a wonderful journey together. But before long, I had to call it quits and get back to work.
I chirped a couple times in an attempt to say goodbye and sat down to let them know I’d be going. They ran over to be at once and began to chirp. They continued chirping while i went through the PS menu and quit. It was legitimately hard to select “yes”.
I felt so bad for this sweetheart. I’m hoping I can finish the game later tonight and get their name so that I can send them an explanation. =( I’m afraid lingering may have made the separation worse instead of kinder. I’ve been wondering if it was wrong of me to log on at all knowing I’d end up leaving someone. I hope the rest of their Journey was wonderful.
