First Time as a White Cloak

I have beaten Journey three and a half times already, and I today thought I aught to stretch out in the White Cloak I unlocked on my last run.

Of course, I was more eager to try out all the glitch areas and secrets instead of helping newbies. Can you blame me? I still hadn’t face-planted!

Getting outside the Hub level to meet Nick took me thirty minutes. I looked up one technique, but eventually settled on one that didn’t rely on fast-flying.

In the Desert I met a Red who wasn’t that interested in me and we went our separate ways early on. Fine by me, I can face-plant on the flower alone! Eventually, I found myself looking down to the sunken power station, and I performed my first boost and wound up at the top with ease!

In the Sunken City, I managed to explore all around the glitch area, from the dunes and emptiness in the back to the forceful sliding up in the earlier part of the level.

Now it was time for the Underground. I clipped out by climbing to the top of the jellyfish room, but I eventually ended up back in the level. At the slide down to the tower, I boosted up the entire thing and found the next level model and a cutscene mural. But beyond that I finally encountered the Darkness. I was able to walk out the first time, but after trying my luck again my Traveler was lost, and I had to restart. This time, I was able to bypass the entire level by sticking to the right of the map when I glitched out. When I ended back at the tower, I snuck up the hill to see if any Dragons were activated. To my amazement, one tore down from the sky and evaded the Tower, but the other was still missing. Finally, I went and checked on Gary the scarf, just to see how he was doing.

Instead of finding the glitch area in the Tower climb, I decided to ascend without using any murals or dust. It was actually easier than expected, plus I got all the glyphs in the process!

Out in the Snow was where things got interesting. I met my first White Cloak on that run there, and he followed me into the glitch area. We passed by the back of the cave and the twirling circle of cloth creatures before we headed to the mountain.

Up in Apotheosis, we chirped with each other and danced all the way to the top. But I, and my curious mind, wanted to find a way to the very top of the mountain, not just the passage. He ended up going ahead and I fell down into the glitch world where there was no escape, and I had to restart back in the Snow level.

There I met another White Cloak, who joined me once again into the bug world and they showed me the frozen Dragons and the lantern Room. Unfortunately, our time was cut short and I ended up getting stuck in a hole in the ground.

Determined to finish the game, I once again started the Snow level and finished the game, but this time on my own. It was my first time ending the game by myself, but I guess that’s how I played.

The next time I play, I’ll make sure to be a better White Cloak! :P
