I had the privilege of journeying with forum member Tonton_Hazuki (PSN: Tete19681981) for a while last night.
We met at the BB with lots of chirping, circling, dancing, faceplanting and tandem flying (all the good stuff!) from the off. A trend that continued all the way through.
We played around in the BB stage for a while - speed flying, charge boosting etc. Eventually Tonton_Hazuki charge boosted into the backstage.
I tried to follow but just missed out so my companion came back and rescued me and we got in through the headbonkers cave.
More tandem flying followed, getting higher and higher into the dusky gloom.
I don’t know if this a thing but in the backstage we discovered a ‘big black box’ like a huge monolith floating above us and flew through in and around it for a while before diving into the transition point at the steps.
In the PD we quickly got all the symbols and dive boosted up to the factory.
After a bit of fast flying up the steps and back again we activated the shrine and afterwards I was happy to see my companion wanted to go back into the PD to experience the wind effects.
I think the sliding around went pretty well and we even released the carpets that we skipped the first time, thanks for letting me do that!
As a side note, if we call the giant carpets whales then why don’t we call the smaller ones dolphins or porpoises or something?
Anyway, in the SC part 1 I thought we were going to go into the glitch after the first symbol but managed to cancel out when I saw my companion was still sliding down the hill.
We got the symbol and released the carpets at the rest stop and, for yet another first for me I followed my companion up to the tower left of the top of the gateway and further up to the right for a charge boost into part 2.
We tandem flew all the way into the backstage from the apex of the charge boost (really starting to click here) and got in some seriously unbelievable coasting.
We spent such a long time flying around - meeting up with the static group of carpets, journeying back to the factory and slip-sliding back to the shrine.
I cannot emphasise enough how good the coasting was here, at one point everything went quiet except for a repeating ‘zipping’ sound effect. It was like being in the eye of a storm.
After activating the shrine, we tandem flew back into the backstage before entering the transition point from there.
We immediately charge boosted up to a point to get into the backstage at the start of the UG.
Tonton_Hazuki led me to experience the multi-coloured star field. Always a treat for me when this happens, thank you!
We dived back into the main area and messed around with the frozen WM, pinging and tumbling off it.
Then I challenged my companion to play chicken with the next active WMs. I went too far and lost too much scarf.
I thought we had lost each other afterwards so I sat down on one of the lanterns to the side of the shrine at the bottom and waited.
After a while my companion came swooping down to pick me up and activate the shrine. We did a bit more charge boosting before entering the tower stage.
I was starting to get concerned about my scarf length when we got in the tower stage but we activated the first goo level anyway.
I tried to do a decent dive boost through the flyers that were released but I just couldn’t get the height and eventually we disconnected from each other.
Thank you Tonton_Hazuki for such a great journey and regarding the general feeling about a possible Journey 2 I would like to confirm that Journey is its own sequel.
Every journey I’ve had with all the great companions I’ve met has been it’s own unique experience.
Well…I’ll try to do my best, since I didn’t practice with my English lately.
Today, was just…an ordinary day of summer, since the last day of school (just a week?), I was so concentrated in studying that I suddenly had too much free time, obviously that I spent (and i AM spending—) in videogames.
So…what could be the one that I play the most?
And here we go, this masterpiece of Journey.
Since that this isn’t my language and I’m doing my best to express myself,
I can’t tell in any sort of language how much I love this game.Unfortunately, it makes me so sad to read a lot of stories, about gamers that found themselves with wonderful companions, exploring glitches, together and having so much fun with a game like this.
You may ask me why, but lately this game…
was making me very sad, every time I tried to play it…I wish, that every time I restart the game from the beginning, it could feel like the first time.
That just because, every companion I have met in the last weeks, everyone of them…when I was chirping like mad for their attention, a second after, they sit, and how I can foresee …they disappear.
Without making a noise, without trying if we could have some fun together.
For cheering myself up, I tried to explore some glitches like in the Sunken City,
But every time, instead of being amazed, touched… i just felt really sad, thinking about those companions who had a happy, white cloak teaching them a lot of things….and there’s me, a cloak, red or white doesn’t count, alone, that just wants a companion who enjoys his company and wants to spent their time…with me…
But today…it wasn’t a glitch making me happy.
After being (again) abandoned by someone, I decided to continue the game, even if reluctantly.
And …that’s when…in the Sunken City…I met,
the best companion of my life.
Even if in the middle of the course, it was so exciting, to find someone that could give me so much attention and chirps back.
As a White cloak, I wanted to rescue that little red cloak, showing him all the glyphs and the symbols, I couldn’t tell if he already knew them, but he looked excited after I showed them to him.
And that was the best thing.
Well…today I was really exhausted, accordingly I was distracted too.
In the Underground level, I wanted for the first time to save those little (sorry I don’t remember how the patchworks are called).
Unfortunately I was too slow, I saved them (…i hope so, at first I caught them) but then…the war machine saw me and he ate a lot of my long scarf, flinging me somewhere.
The best part, was to see…my companion chirping like mad, looking for me,
I could see from my distance that he looked very worried.
I ran into him, and he seemed to be happy to see that I was okay [obviously, he just ate my scarf, ahahah ~ヾ(^∇^) ]
We continued, entering the Snow level.
There too, i got chased by the war machines like FOUR TIMES. Ahahah!!
I was so embarrassed, my companion seemed to be more crafty than me that (i think?) being a white cloak, I should be more experienced…whatever.
And,
there’s the Apotheosis.
How. Moving.
I didn’t want to leave him.
If I had the possibility, I would have stayed with him so much more.
I was like, really in Heaven, with myself,
with my little red cloak…who was the first that didn’t want to leave me there.
As a tradition for the end of every Journey,
we drew each other a lot of hearts,
I (not carefully, ahhaha~) tried to draw an arrow in every one of them, and I think he didn’t even understand what I was doing… _〆(・∀・@);
After a while, I finished this game,
feeling happy inside.
If you read this,
I want to thank you again, tShimub_F17.
I don’t know how, but I hope inside, that we could meet again in the future.
Farewell.

So I was playing on my friend Beefxcake’s playstation and decided to do my first play-through of Journey. I did it online and ran into a user called skie56 during the part where you build a bridge across the desert ruins. Skie was very patient and showed me where all the scarf pieces were, along with all of the other Easter eggs in it. They seemed very patient and we eventually managed to almost get down a sort of communication system with our blips. Skie was a fantastic player to be with and made the experience very worthwhile… however… it was at the end that they really tugged on my heartstrings.
It was the final paradise fly-through and we landed on the top of the mountain, about to make the final walk into the glow, when they stopped and ran to the side. I was curious and watched as Skie drew a massive heart in the snow. it was so touching and it made my night. I drew a little arrow through it and then proceeded to draw my own heart, which they put an arrow through as well.
It was such a perfect ending and when I found out it was the same user the entire time it just warmed my heart that much more. Such a touching end to an already touching game.

If you wouldn’t mind, could you help me find my most recent companion? We were together the whole game until I lost them on the final level and had to continue alone ;u;

I recently have been suffering from some depression, with my father’s bad health, finding out my girlfriend of 4 years cheated on me, my friends and family always looking to me for guidance and just not knowing what I want to do in life.
So I was bored and haven’t played Journey for a while so i don’t remember where everything is. So I met my companion, and he was so nice and patient, he led me back to everything, not just the glyphs, but the story parts and the easter eggs. I let him take the lead, and when we got to the part with the serpent creatures in the snow, I saw the creature overhead and stopped, but he kept going, and got attacked. I was so scared, i tried to search for him, and a few seconds later, i was attacked, disoriented, i didn’t know what to do, i started to have a panic attack, but then at the arch, there he was chirping loudly for me to see. I was relieved. and we continued on our way. While being blown away by the wind, i fell off and was scared, but there he was at the exit, waiting for me. All through the snow, he would be chirping and encouraging me, While he may have been, just being nice, I thank him, for he showed me, that i don’t always have to lead, sometimes it is ok to let others take over.
Thanks you JamesHoffoss.
I take the bus down to my university in the morning. It was a relatively quiet day, and I was staring out the window in my seat, oblivious to the dreary silence inside the bus.
Suddenly, next to my bus another bus had caught up, this one full of primary school children going for an excursion in the city. It was really sweet to see them go by and they waved frantically at our bus, trying to get the attention of anyone in there. I neglected to wave back and regretted it once our buses were no longer side by side.
Fortunately for me, a couple of minutes down the road, our buses were next to each other again, and this time I waved back. The little kids were so amazed and excited when they saw me wave, and returned the gesture even more enthusiastically. One little girl stuck out her two fingers in a peace sign, holding it up and hoping I would see it. I smiled and gave her a peace sign back.
The way she reacted was astounding. She gasped in excitement and though all I could hear was the humming of my bus, I could clearly hear those little girls shouting in excitement just a couple of meters away. I’m sure they could hear me laughing through my expression in the window.
For a moment, we connected. All we had were eye contact and a wordless language consisting of waves and smiles. We could feel each other.
If Journey has taught me anything - words are so overrated.
One day, I decided that I wanted to play Journey again, for probably the millionth time. I switched from my red cloak to my white cloak and then started my journey.
At the beginning bridge, I began to fill out my normal routine, freeing little clothes and collecting the glyphs that were there. Before long, I met up with another white cloaked companion over by the glyph on top of those little sand falls. We greeted each other with a bunch of pings, and that’s when he did a peculiar thing, that I had never seen before.
He went to the sand falls to the left of the ones with the glyph on them, and he started flying up at the rock, pinging at me to do the same. I did, but nothing happened. After he did this for a little while longer, he disappeared into the rocks. This is when I realized that he was showing me how to get into the glitch level that I had heard about. It took a while, but I eventually made it in as well.
When I finally made it in, we pinged and danced around happily, and he did the face-planting glitch a couple of times, which made me laugh a little. We spent a good half-hour exploring the glitch world. I had never been there before, so he led me around. After we both began to get bored, we went on to the next level.
Throughout the game, he showed me where all the glitches he knew of were, and he knew of a lot. He knew of at least one in every level. When we got to the level where you’re introduced to the snakes, we kept doing all the glitches, and it messed things up a lot. He remained energetic and playful the whole time, doing face-plants regularly. We spent a bunch of time getting knocked over by snakes and such, until we were both done and we came to where you slide down the big hill to the finish, with the two snakes on your tail.
When we started going down, he flew up, but I didn’t follow him, because I thought he was just, I don’t know.. Doing whatever. But, when I got to the bottom, he wasn’t behind me. I waited for a good five minutes, pinging frantically, hoping he would respond. I even ran back up the hill to see if he was still up there, but unfortunately, he wasn’t. Feeling a little bit heartbroken, I sat down and watched the story segment. When it was over and the door opened to go to the tower stage, I waited another five minutes before finally going through.
When I was at the entrance to the tower stage, I just stood there, contemplating whether or not I wanted to go on. I knew that if I did, I would just be sad for the rest of the game, and I wouldn’t end up giving any new companion the attention they should. So, feeling even more heartbroken, I continued to sit there, until a white clock materialized, pinging excitedly at me and running circles around me.
As he did this, he seemed to be acting like my lost companion. I began to run excitedly around him too, still not sure if it was really him, or if it was just a look-alike that was excited to have a new companion. But then he did a face-plant, and I knew immediately that it was him. I was ecstatic, and we continued on, glitching all the while. We ended up finishing together, and we spent a good ten minutes drawing patterns in the snow at the top of the mountain. I didn’t want our journey to end, and he didn’t seem to want it to either. When we finally walked into the light, I felt very happy that we were able to finish together, but very sad that it had to come to an end, seemingly so soon.
He was by far the most playful and fun companion I’ve ever had, and I can only hope that I’ll run into another companion like him.
It hurts when someone leaves you behind. But when it’s you who has to leave someone behind, it could hurt even more.
I’ve just been playing as a white cloak (full embroidery) with a red cloak (second or third timer, I can’t really remember), from the pink desert up until the start of the tower. I’ve tried to show them where the symbols were— missed two. One was impossible to get back to, but we managed to fly back up to get the one you see when falling through the sand waterfall using the little clothes. Got through the underwater temple easily without problems and showed them Gary and Larry.
We entered the tower… and that’s where I quit. The first few times I played to the very end I always ended up in tears. Stopped playing past the tower since then. It’s been a few months since I last played Journey, and I thought I was over it, but getting to that point made me remember all I went through on my previous plays. I can’t handle it. I know it’s selfish to leave someone behind because of that.
I’m Estelle-SH on PSN. Person I was playing with, if you happen to be reading this— I’m sorry for leaving you behind so abruptly. I hated doing so. It was a fun journey while it lasted, and I hope you managed to finish it with a good companion.

June 4 12:27 am I just finished a wonderful time with my one and only companion for the evening :) A red cloak, possibly a third run. Sweetest little darling :) So much fun and so many smiles and laughs :) I took them into the underground glitch after my many tumbles off of the beam due to my clumsiness lol. Even though they didn’t know my intentions yet, they were so sweet to wait for me :) lol thank you for being so patient LambHoot. I had fun! Goodnight :)
